Week 10 - Extending the life of your share.

Welcome to your latest CSA newsletter! It’s been another beautiful sunny week, but we are once again in dire need of rain to help along some of the crops. Watering helps, but nothing beats a good day of soaking rain. Fingers crossed that we get some relief later this week!

We’re teasing some shots of the peppers and eggplant above, but we don’t quite have enough to include them in this week's share. In the mean time we’ve got the last of the squash and cucumbers, the full range of tomatoes, green beans, kohlrabi, summer onions and lettuce mix.

While there will still be six more weeks of the share left to go, we wanted to share a great resource for making your produce last even longer. The University of Maine Cooperative Extension has a wealth of information on their website on food preservation, including storage advice, webinars“how to” videos and even a course to become a Master Food Preserver! Much of the produce we share each week can be frozen, pickled or dried so that it can last you well in to the winter months.

Of course, enjoying your produce today is still great. We just made a simple pizza we made on a pre-made crust, with thinly sliced Brandywine tomato, fresh basil and mozzarella. It was delicious!

Looking Ahead

Although we've still got plenty of produce left to share we're already thinking ahead to next season, and wanted let you know that we'll soon be sending out a survey to get your feedback about what you liked, where we can improve and any other ideas you want to share.

We'll also be opening sign-up for for the 2021 share soon, with lots of improvements on that process, so please stay tuned!

Don't forget to connect with us on Facebook or Instagram if you haven't already, and please leave us a Google Review if you have the time. Spreading the word about the farm will really help us grow next year!
